Bio
Adam Neese is a photographer and artist who investigates place, mythology, and interaction with the landscape in his work. His bodies of work have been exhibited in numerous group, solo, and two person exhibitions nationally and internationally. Adam was an artist in residence at Arteles Creative Center in Hämeenkyrö, Finland in 2015, was the overall winner of Redbird Editions’ inaugural open call in Amsterdam, Netherlands in 2013, and worked with Cow House Studios’ Art on the Farm program in County Wexford, Ireland in 2013. He holds a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and an MFA from the University of North Texas. Adam’s photographs are included in collections including Harwood International and Target Corporate Headquarters, along with various private collections.
Adam also works as the Senior Collections Photographer for Conservation at the Museum of Modern Art and has specialties in technical imaging for cultural heritage, fine art documentation, and architectural photography. He has held positions in imaging and photography at the Amon Carter Museum of American Art (Fort Worth), Menil Collection (Houston), Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York), and since 2023 in the David Booth Conservation department at MoMA. Adam teaches courses and workshops in conservation photography at New York University’s Institute of Fine Arts Conservation Center, and he is currently the Chair of the American Institute for Conservation’s Imaging Working Group. Adam lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
